Tianah McBride

Tianah McBride (she/her) is a mental health practitioner who lives and works from Boorloo (Perth) on Wadjuk Country of Noongar nation. Tianah completed her psychology training at the University of Western Australia before moving onto clinical practice providing psychology and counselling within various Not-For-Profit Services. She currently works as the Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead for an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation that provides legal advice, representation, and advocacy for Aboriginal adults and young people engaged in the justice system. She operates from a reformist, de-colonial framework to therapy, mental health, and Social and Emotional wellbeing. Tianah recognises the ongoing harm perpetuated by many areas of the policing, legal, and healthcare systems towards Aboriginal individuals and communities. She is passionate about the importance of centering lived experience and First Nations’ community perspectives in approaching harm prevention and in reducing the oppression, racism, and violence that continue to underpin our systems and structures today.

  • Hear about the mental health challenges faced by Aboriginal people in police, remand, and custodial settings, and explore solutions that support rehabilitation, healing, and harm prevention.

  • Discuss community-led strategies and policy reforms that prioritise care over arrest, protect human rights, and empower communities.
