Raagini Vijaykumar is a Principal Managing Lawyer with the Wirraway Practice at the Victorian Aboriginal Legal Service, where she leads work on police and prison accountability and systemic reform. Raagini has extensive experience advocating for justice and rights, having previously represented clients in legal claims against police and correctional authorities for unlawful conduct. Before joining VALS, she worked at the Coroners Court and within the Department of Justice and Community Safety, bringing a strong legal background to complex accountability matters.
With qualifications in law and arts, Raagini is committed to strengthening legal oversight, challenging harmful practices and advancing equitable responses within the justice system. Her work emphasises transparent accountability, cultural safety and pathways toward community-centred approaches that can reduce unnecessary police contact and deepen trust in public safety systems.
