Julie Williams

Community Engagement Lead

Just Reinvest NSW

A proud Gamilaroi people woman born and raised in Mount Druitt, she is a single mother of five and grandmother of twenty who has spent her life deeply connected to community, culture and identity. Having grown up in Western Sydney and lived in Mount Druitt her entire life, she brings lived experience and deep understanding of the challenges Aboriginal families face within the criminal justice system.

Since September 2020, she has worked as Community Engagement Lead at Just Reinvest NSW, supporting the community to explore justice reinvestment as a pathway for change. She is passionate about early intervention, strengthening families, and ensuring local voices—especially Elders and young people—lead solutions. She believes real change comes when communities are listened to and empowered to design their own responses to the issues they face.
