Jonathon Hunyor has been Chief Executive Officer of the Justice and Equity Centre since 2016. A highly experienced public interest lawyer and strategic leader, Jonathon brings more than 25 years’ experience advancing human rights and social justice across New South Wales and the Northern Territory.
He previously served as Principal Legal Officer at the North Australian Aboriginal Justice Agency, leading criminal and civil practices across the Top End, and as Director of Legal Services at the Australian Human Rights Commission. His career has spanned discrimination law, Aboriginal land rights, coronial inquests and systemic reform litigation.
Jonathon is widely recognised for his work using strategic litigation, human rights frameworks and independent oversight to drive accountability and ensure that justice reform moves from recommendation to implementation.
