Bianca Dufty is the Deputy Children’s Guardian at the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian. She is a proud Ngemba and Gamilaraay woman living on unceded Dharawal country.

Bianca has primarily worked in family law, most recently as the Deputy Director Family Law at Legal Aid. In that role, Bianca established the Family Law Service for Aboriginal Communities (FamAC). Prior to working at Legal Aid, Bianca held roles at the Aboriginal Legal Service and the Australian Department of Human Services.

Bianca believes in collaboration, deep listening, and incorporating Aboriginal ways of being, knowing and doing into how we work together. Bianca values diverse perspectives, builds authentic relationships and understand that the best outcomes emerge from collective wisdom.

Understanding an Aboriginal young person's experience into the youth justice system

  • Explore how trauma, structural inequality and systemic responses contribute to the criminalization of Aboriginal children and young people and their pathways into the youth justice system

  • Learn how Aboriginal-designed, community-led approaches through the Koorie Youth Council's youth voice model, centre young people's voices and experiences for development and change in Victoria's youth justice system
